Taking the pain out of filing taxes

Matthew Braga features SimpleTax and reviews the state of Canadian tax software in today’s Financial Post (part of the National Post).

“I thought we were supposed to be living in the future where robots do our taxes for us,” Jonathan Suter jokes.

It’s the sort of dream that probably doesn’t rank quite as high as flying cars and lunar colonies in common sci-fi canon, but Mr. Suter has a point — when it comes time for Canadians to file their taxes electronically each year, tax preparation software hasn’t changed all that much.

That’s why Mr. Suter, along with co-founders Allison Suter and Justin Reynen, have been developing SimpleTax — a free, web-based tax-preparation app that reduces the act of preparing and filing a tax return into the most basic, simple terms.

The photo in the article also reveals how closely we work together, so go read the full article on the Financial Post’s website. And yes, my beard could use some work.
