Happy Monday! Starting today, you can NETFILE your 2014 tax return. If you’ve signed up for direct deposit, you could see your refund in as few as eight days from now.
Here are a few dates to mark in your calendar:
|Today||NETFILE opens. You can now submit your 2014 tax return.
Heads-up! Service Canada is behind on issuing slips for CPP and some credits like UCCB. Hold off on filing your return until you have all your slips.
|February 28, 2015||The last day employers can mail T4 slips and the last day institutions can mail T5 slips.|
|March 2, 2015||The RRSP contribution deadline for the 2014 tax year. You can use contributions made up until this date to get a deduction on your 2014 tax return.|
|March 31, 2015||The last day most institutions will send out T3 slips. If you have mutual funds or some kinds of ETFs, you might need to wait until after this date to file your return.|
|April 30, 2015||The filing due date for most individuals. If you have a balance owing, make sure to pay it by this date.|
|June 15, 2015||The filing due date if you’re self-employed. If you have a balance owing, that will still be due on April 30.|
This is also the first year you can NETFILE a prior year return. If you’re a little behind, you can file your 2013 tax return online before starting this year’s return.
